Screen Islands District (formerly the district a screen) is a district in south Sulawesi province, Indonesia. The capital of this district is located in the castle town. This district has an area of 903.35 km ² and a population of approximately 100,000 people. Toraja funeral rites are important social events, usually attended by hundreds of people and lasting for several days. Before the 20th century, Torajans lived in autonomous villages, where they practised animism and were relatively untouched by the outside world. In the early 1900s, Dutch missionaries first worked to convert.
